SUNSETAVENUE

2004 – 2010. residential renovation – exterior and interior.  167 square metres. builder – warbleton developments
Upper Scarborough, Calgary, AB

Extensive interior and exterior renovations and landscaping of existing late 40’s home.

This project involved the redesign and reconfiguration of a home on Sunset Avenue SW to respond to both the spectacular site and our client’s desire to uncover the home’s underlying Modernist character. Our wonderful client was raised in Sweden and strongly identifies with a Scandinavian-influenced, modernist approach to living spaces. The home had been originally constructed for one of the owners of a successful Calgary lumber and structures company – its underlying bones were exceptional. With an honest structural expression, it was quite marvelous, and allowed for opening up the main living spaces from the somewhat compartmentalized original layout. The design also concentrated on the quality of light, natural materials, and an engagement with the spectacular vista of downtown Calgary. This project was an example of establishing a Master Plan and executing it, as appropriate, over time.
