This project stemmed from the clients' desire for a lighter, more open kitchen. After some initial design development, the client decided to consider more of an extensive renovation to turn their Altadore house into a dream home. The renovation resulted in their end goal for the kitchen, as well as improved lighting throughout the main floor, creating a stronger connection between the different living spaces and a fluidity between the living room and backyard by utilizing a NanaWall operable wall system. Through carefully planned design details we created a back entry with more light and plenty of storage.
Vintage inspired tile in the mudroom brings in some colour to compliment bright furniture in the adjacent living room. We loved that this client adores bright pops of vibrant colour, as you can see in their selection of furniture and artwork, as well as in the hand-blown Bocci glass pendants. Other show-stoppers in this project include the bold black granite countertops with white veining, the Bocci 38 series fixture hanging over the bar, with copper wire supporting succulent satellites, and the Studio Italia Sky-fall pendants over the island. Last but not least, the custom made kitchen table created by Black Forest Wood Co. takes your breath away; it's a live edge slab of walnut with an ebony wenge insert in the center.
